This is the most vile thing I have ever seen.  Way to pimp out your son, Sarah Palin, for the vote/sympathy factor in PEOPLE magazine. Plus, could John McCain be any more uncomfortable?  Sick sick sick sick sick.

C’mon, Elysabeth – the “most vile” thing you’ve ever seen, ever ever? Surely you’ve seen holocaust footage or something.

You can’t tell me that the political pimping of one’s special needs child isn’t sad and ridiculous. She’s putting womanhood and motherhood back several steps.

  3. More vile that that photo? The administration for the last 8 years is more vile then that photograph… what would be even MORE vile, is if that was our next administration… look at them, McCain looks like he’s passing gas, and his wife looks airbrushed in… either that or he looks like she has her hand up his ass…. and look closely at his eyes, he’s not even looking at the camera.

She’s the first female GOP VP nominee, a nomination even Hillary Clinton called historic, don’t you think that’s a step or two forward for women?

Also, I don’t see why a picture of those four with Palin’s child is necessarily pimping him out just because it’s a special needs child. So far, they’ve treated him as any other kid – not killing it, first of all – and I don’t think she even mentioned the Down’s syndrome in her acceptance speech.

A conservative woman who doesn’t believe in a woman’s right to choose is not one that I want representing me. Don’t even get me started on the way she used Hillary Clinton (someone that she likely doesn’t agree with on MANY platforms) as a way to swing voters. It’s so ridiculously transparent to EVERYONE that it is almost disgusting.

I hope Joe Biden wipes the floor with her in the VP debates.

It seems to me like this is really a woman who’s main sin is being conservative.

  7. Well, I mean come on… isn’t being conservative a mortal sin? (That was a low blow from a bleeding heart liberal.)

No but abortion is! (Counterstrike from evil conservative)

Fight it out on your own blogs, boys. I’m just pointing out the transparent idiocy of this choice.

I’m with you Elysabeth. My own politics aside, Palin has no experience! McCain is a hypocrite for lambasting Obama for his lack of experience and then choosing a VP who hasn’t even been Governor for 2 years (and little experience prior to that!) And it’s not like the Governor of Alaska is confronted with many key issues that the rest of the country is concerned with. Choosing Palin to try and win over Hilary supporters was ill-conceived. A pro-life, creationist, conservative who is pro-drilling and doesn’t think polar bears should be put on the extinction list is not someone who will win over Hilary’s women voters.

Well spoken and I agree 100%. I think about how lucky your baby will be … hopefully born with a landmark president. I can’t wait.

  12. Alaska is actually at the heart of the ANWR/energy debate; I’d call that a current key issue. I’d agree that she won’t necessarily win over the Hillary voters, but I think it was more important for McCain to excite the conservative base, which he has.
