Beer Bread


My dad made a huge feast for us at our Christmas celebration, including this amazing beer bread.  He just sent me the recipe in the mail, and it looked SUPER easy (and it was super good….) so I decided to make it.

Neither Marc nor I are extraordinarily experienced in the ways of dough, particularly dough making at home, but even a kitchen klutz like me could easily make this bread.  There is no “hard part” to this recipe.

Speaking of, here is the recipe, in case you’re interested in trying it out:

3 c. self-rising flour

1/2 c sugar

1 12 oz. can of beer (my dad just used Bud, but Marc and I used a darker brew that we happened to have on hand)

2 tbsp. butter or margarine, melted

Preheat oven to 375 degrees.  Grease a 5×7 inch loaf baking pan.

In a large bowl, combine flour, sugar and beer.  Stir with a wooden spoon until well mixed.  Spoon into a loaf pan, until pan is about 1/2 full.  Drizzle melted butter on top.  Let stand for 5 mins.  Place in oven and bake for 45-55 minutes or until golden brown.

I haven’t tasted it yet but I took some pictures when the bread came out of the oven, for your viewing pleasure.  I bet you wish you were here to taste it!!  Oh…also, our second loaf was baked in a brownie pan.  We ran out of loaf pans.  I’ll let Marc take that one to work.
