Happy Valentine’s Day!!!

I can’t say I’ve always been a fan of Valentine’s Day, but it’s a lot easier to love it when you’re in love.  And I am, of course.  In years past, Marc and I have always gone out of town for Valentine’s Day.  This year, because we have the new addition to the family (our baby-doggie, Job), we are pretty committed to being at home.  It’s way too early to go away from home for the weekend.

So, in celebration of Valentine’s Day, we’ve spent some great quality time at home and nearby.  This morning, we went to Sound Bites for a yummy breakfast (my favorite!), we went to Lowes, to arrange for installation of our new front storm doors, and then we had a Barnes and Noble date, where I got THREE new books, Somewhere Off the Coast of Maine by Ann Hood, Black + White by Dani Shapiro, and Towelhead by Alicia Erian.  Marc picked up some books he’s had his eye on–Slash (from Guns and Roses)’s autobiography and a Chuck Klosterman book.

We came home and took Job for a nice, long walk, and hung out.  We also bought him a massive bone–it’s seriously like 10-10 1/2 inches long.  He’s so little that he can’t really get it in his mouth for long, but he carries it around and has it sitting next to him in his dog bed.  It’s really quite sweet, and I will definitely be posting pictures of his new, gigantic toy.

This evening, we went to Eastern Standard in Kenmore Square in Boston.  We got all dressed up and fancy, and the atmosphere was really romantic and perfect.  It was amaaaaazingly delicious, and well worth the reservation I made months ago.  Since we’re an old married couple, we arrived earlier than our reservation (6:30 for a 7:00 p.m. reservation) and we were out the door and in the car by 8:30.  This evening, we’ve been playing with the doggie and watching t.v.  It’s been glorious.

Valentine’s Day at home….a rousing success!  Who knew?!
